Maternity Appointment Missing From the Portal: Confirm the Booking

Keep the appointment question separate from the app-access question. Compare the exact clinic, date and appointment type in your official messages, ask the booking or maternity team whether the visit is still arranged, and then address access through its approved route. A blank portal entry cannot confirm cancellation or decide whether care can wait.

Separate a booking problem from a display problem

A letter can name an appointment that you cannot see in the portal. You might also be able to see an appointment but have an outdated letter. Those situations need a booking answer from the service; neither a screenshot nor a refresh button tells you what the clinic has arranged.

Bedfordshire Hospitals’ published BadgerNet and Badger Notes FAQ is a useful specific example. It says the information available in Badger Notes can vary between maternity services and directs questions about individual records, appointments or access to the midwife or maternity team. It also says inability to log in does not mean the clinical record is unavailable to healthcare professionals. Those are statements about the service described by the Trust, not a guarantee for every portal. [1]

First ask: “Is this appointment still booked, and what are its current arrangements?” Then ask: “Should this type of appointment appear in my portal, and who can help with access?” Do not delete a calendar entry or skip a visit because the display is empty.

This table is an organising method, not a hospital requirement. Keep private identifiers in your own copy and provide only the details the approved contact channel requests. Do not post an entire appointment letter in a public forum to ask why an entry is missing.

In Bedfordshire’s FAQ, BadgerNet is the clinical record system and Badger Notes is the patient-facing service. A service may also use a different system for another appointment. Ask which record and account the letter refers to rather than assuming every hospital event belongs in one app. Do not create multiple accounts as a guessed repair.

Ask for a booking answer before changing your plan

Use the contact on the current appointment instruction or your service’s official clinic directory. Cambridge University Hospitals says an appointment letter or card tells patients where to go, and its clinic directory can supply contact details if the letter is misplaced. That is a CUH example of finding the responsible team, not an instruction to telephone CUH about another hospital. [2]

Original routine contact wording

Patient: I have a maternity appointment instruction for [clinic] on [date and time], issued on [message date]. It is not visible in my portal. Please confirm whether it is still booked, the place or format, and which instructions apply.

Patient: Should this appointment type appear in this portal? If not, how will I receive changes? If access is the problem, which official help route should I use?

These scripts are constructed examples; this site has not contacted a hospital or verified a booking.

Record an unanswered request as pending. A sent message is not confirmation. If the visit is approaching and you have no answer, use the service’s published contact route to ask what to do; do not decide from this article that waiting or missing it is safe. Urgent maternity concerns follow your care team’s urgent instructions and local emergency arrangements immediately.

Resolve access without treating a login as the care record

For the Bedfordshire service described in the FAQ, a midwife provides setup information and should be contacted about account-access problems. The FAQ explicitly says not to share login details. Keep passwords, PINs and verification codes out of helper notes and group chats. Follow your own service’s instructions rather than a reset procedure invented for another product.

If you lack a suitable device or internet access, ask the team how it will provide the information you need. Oxford University Hospitals’ BadgerNotes page offers a printed record through the midwife for people who choose not to access digitally, and says an existing paper notes folder should still be carried for the rest of that pregnancy under its published transition instructions. These are local alternatives to ask about, not permission to discard your own folder. [3]

Bedfordshire’s FAQ announces introduction dates of 3 November 2026 for Bedford Hospital and 8 December 2026 for Luton and Dunstable University Hospital. The FAQ still stated those announced dates when checked on 7 November 2026. A published date does not independently verify implementation or your record’s migration. Confirm the hospital and actual arrangement with your team. No app, login, booking or hospital rollout was tested for this article.

Three fictional discrepancies to practise

These examples classify unanswered administrative questions. They do not interpret clinical records.

Check 1: A letter names 10:00, but the portal has no appointment. Has the visit been cancelled?

Cancellation is not established. Ask the responsible service to confirm the booking and instructions.

A missing patient-facing entry does not determine the clinic’s booking status.

Check 2: A portal shows 11:00 and an older letter says 10:00. Should you choose the later time?

Ask which instruction is current; record the answer.

Two dated instructions reveal a discrepancy, not a rule that the app or later time always wins.

Check 3: You cannot log in and a relative offers to keep your password in a family chat. Is this an appropriate backup?

Keep credentials private and use the official service’s assistance or alternative information route.

A helper can assist with a contact or paper location without being given the whole account.

Keep a private working record

Download the original blank record and example answer notes (TXT). Edit it privately on your own device. This website does not receive a completed copy. The record is a preparation aid, not an official form.

If you need to arrange absence from work, first establish the appointment details and then check the Great Britain antenatal time-off request if that jurisdiction applies. A work calendar entry does not confirm a hospital booking.
